Subject: Pre-Existing Soul Claim — Research Questions
Henri,

I know you are likely doing your own research given our last mission, but its eating at me so I have asked APEX to help me research just based on what I heard, saw and have experienced prior to our discuss in Olympus with Hades and his statement that Brant, Bryce and myself were not able to bargain our souls because of prior claims. Given the timeline he set, this is rather urgent, although I will admit I did feel at peace for the first time in a long time while we were . . . elsewhere. Not that I wish to give up my time with Olivia, Amelia . . . and others so I need clarity on something I don’t have a framework for. I’m not asking for theory—I’m asking what’s actually possible. Below are the options I think are legitimately more likely or possible, although not in any specific order, just based on our experiences.
1. Pre-Claim Without Consent
Is it possible for a person’s soul to be claimed, bound, or owned without their knowledge or agreement?
If yes: what mechanisms allow that—ancestral, divine, curse, or otherwise?
2. Multiple Pantheon Jurisdiction
Can a soul fall under the authority of more than one mythological system?
Example: Greek vs Egyptian vs other structures—do they compete, overlap, or defer?
3. Death Recognition / Rejection
What determines whether a soul is accepted, rejected, or recognized by a death domain?
What would cause a domain (or its ruler) to refuse a claim entirely?
4. Repeated Death and Return
If someone has died multiple times and returned:
Does that create a claim, weaken ownership, or transfer jurisdiction?
5. Partial or Shared Souls
Can a soul be:
- divided
- shared between individuals
- or externally anchored
If so, what happens to ownership in those cases?
6. Non-Human Classification
At what point is a person no longer treated as human in mythological systems?
Specifically: how are serpentine or chthonic-aligned beings classified?
7. Emotional or Sensory Affinity to Death Domains
If someone experiences familiarity, clarity, or comfort in a death-adjacent environment:
Is that indicative of origin, exposure, or prior claim?
8. External Alteration (Scientific or Arcane)
If a person has been physically or biologically altered:
Can that change how their soul is categorized or who has claim to it?
9. Fate vs Contract
What is the distinction between:
- a soul that is assigned (fate)
- versus a soul that is traded or contracted
Which takes precedence?
10. Disqualification from Bargaining
Under what conditions would a powerful entity (e.g., a death god) refuse to bargain for a soul entirely?
Not negotiation failure—categorical refusal.
If any of these have overlap across multiple systems, I need that noted.
